The ground breaking first episode of Queer as Folk introduced by Vince. Stuart meets Nathan a 15-year old school boy and decides he would be perfect for copping of with. Unfortunately Vince meets a 'muscle man' and things don't quite turn out like they should.
Interruptions in the night occur when Stuart and Vince's Lesbian friends call up from hospital announcing the arrival of a baby, It's Stuarts. Stopping Nathan from experiencing anything (for now) but saves Vince from muscle mary!
Episode One - Comment
"Lucky Sod" we hear you cry when Stuart picks up Nathan for the first time. Although Stuart is your "full-on" gayman, its interesting that he was concerned enough to donate his sperm for the baby and be prepared to contribute financially to the childs upbringing. Ever accidentally given someone the wrong impression only to have them follow you home. You're too scared or shy to turn round and say no and end up in an embarrassing situation back in the house.
What is that contrapion that bloke was wearing? You don't see many of the Muscle Mary's at trade wearing those things. The Bedroom scenes were very well done especially when you consider the actors are straight.

Episode Two - 2nd March
Stuart, a successful PR Executive finds ways of always getting what he wants from men and continues to cop of with men from his work and off the Internet. Vince however is not out at his work (Supermarket Assistant Manager) is set up with the new girl.
Nathan tries to see Stuart again and is rejected by him and Vince. School life is proving to be fun but difficult.
Episode Two - Comment
Its seems strange that Vince who is comfortably out on the scene and and at home and, yet is still closeted at work. Perhaps that will change before the final episode.
Episode Three - 9th March
Stuart and Vince have some friends up from London to stay! All of them go out on Canal Street where Stuart finds 2 men to have a party on their own. The other look on enviously and wonder what the magic words he says to these guys that enables him to cop off so regularly.
While Vince tries to cop off with some guy only to find out something rather nasty. Phil also has some luck but in making the stupid mistake of taking drugs he pays deadly consequences.
Nathan still has the hots for Stuart and thinks it's funny to use Stuarts Taxi account. He takes Donna to Canal Street who loves the place!.
Episode Three - Comment
Why did they have to kill off Phil? After all he was one of the nicer characters. Perhaps that made it even more shocking. Will the other guy get caught? The more characters you meet the more you see similar traits in yourself or your friends. Scary. The contrast between London and Manchester queens is interesting. If we lived in Manchester and someone turned round and made disparaging remarks about the local talent we think we would have responded in kind about London queens. How did Alexander and Dane come to meet the python bloke? Why didn't they leave by the front door although it was entertaining watching their escapade.

Episode Four - 16th March
Vince and Stuart attend Phil's funeral... in the quiet village where he grew up. Phil had planned the whole event meticulously; it is gloriously tacky, and at the same time deeply depressing, especially in the face of Mrs. Delaney's bewilderment. Vince is nervous because Phil nominated him for the reading; the lines to Phil's favourite song, D.I.S.C.O.
At the wake Vince meets Phil's accountant Cameron Roberts and gets immersed in a painful, intense conversation with Mrs. Delaney. In her despair she is looking for something to blame and can't stop herself pointing to her son's sexuality.
At school, Nathan tentatively approaches his classmate Christian. At home, his mother Janice finally confronts him. He rushes off in search of Stuart and ends up in Canal Street, eerily quiet during the day. He tricks a club doorman in to giving him Bernard and Hazel's address and heads off. If they don't let him stay, he'll leave for London.
Episode Four - Comment
It was a sad to see only Vince taking Phil's funeral seriously. Who was the tall dark handsome bloke Stuart was chatting up? Although it was appropriate as the time we hope he calls Stuart up at some time. Is Nathan being honest about his parents. Obviously his mother knows and is undertanding but waht about his dad who we have yet to meet. Anyone else shared Vince's emotions and wanted to walk away from the whole situation/even the gay scene at some stage?

Episode Five - 23rd March
Nathan wakes up with Daniel, aka Dazz, not much older than him but more experienced. Stuart wakes up with two more attractive strangers.
Outside his house, Stuart finds his sister Marie who wants him to babysit for her two young sons that evening, as she has a date. Hazel has agreed that Nathan can stay with her until things calm down but she's furious with him for staying out all night. When Janice comes to pick him up for school it's clear that she is near breaking point.
A world weary Vince perks up when Cameron asks him out on a date. Stuart instantly forgets his promise to his sister in favour of schmoozing a client and in retaliation Marie coldly tells her brother that their parents are getting divorced.
Episode Five - Comment
Dazz's put down to Nathan's "You can see me now" was perfect timing. Anyone else got friends who can recite Doctor Who episodes word for word. I know of someone in Rugby who shall remain nameless and must admit to have half a book case full of Doctor Who titles.
Episode Six - 30th March
In the sixth episode, Stuart and Marie visit their parents. It's obvious that this is a rare occurrence and that, surprisingly, Stuart has never discussed his sexuality with them, which puts constraints on their relationship. Meanwhile Vince takes Cameron to meet his mum.
Nathan's mother Janice meets Hazel, still trying to make everything all right for Nathan, but he is furious with her and walks out, in spite of Donna's efforts to make him stay.
The following day Stuart goes to pick up Nathan from school, for once determined to sort out a mess that is largely of his own creation. But back at the Maloney house he comes face to face with Nathan's father Roy, and, after a violent confrontation, he and Nathan leave together.
And Romey has more unwelcome news for Stuart, when he discovers that she has found another father for his son.
Episode Six - Comment
What on earth is Romey doing with Lance? What about poor Lisa? We can't believe the way Lance has moved himself into Romey's house and then talks down to Stuart in that way. No wonder Stuart and Lisa are unhappy and start plotting.

Episode Seven - 6th April
Stuart throws a huge surprise party... for Vince's 30th birthday. Things start to go badly wrong when Rosalie turns up. For reasons of his own Stuart has invited her, and he makes things worse by introducing her to Cameron. A distraught Rosalie leaves, Vince is furious and he and Cameron leave as quickly as possible.
Stuart becomes inveigled into a complicated plot to discredit Lance, Romey's potential husband. In return for his co-operation, Lisa promises she will safeguard Stuart's access to the baby.
Episode Seven - Comment
The build up to the final episode. How many of you Doctor Who fans out there felt envy when you saw K9 being wheeled in? Much more fun that a little mini.
There has been lots of talk about why Stuart was being such a bitch to Vince. In some respects he had to do it. Vince needed a chance to make build a relationship with Cameron but whilst Vince was still so enambered with Stuart that was never going to happen.
Rosalie was a disappointment. We knew she would be upset but to call Vince a dirty little puff was a bit hard especially as she was familiar with the Canal Street scenario having visited some of the bars there and bumped into Vince on a previous occasion. Lots of lose strands to be tied up in the final episode as well.
Can someone slap Cameron? He's only known Vince a few days and he's already turning into a control freak with Vince and trying to break up his relationship with Stuart. Cameron and Vince - it won't last.

Episode Eight - 13th April
In the final episode... Vince is experiencing intense paranoia at work, petrified that Rosalie has revealed his secret. The complicated plot to discredit Lance, Romey's potential husband, thickens. Cameron, meanwhile, takes Vince to a function at an art gallery, unaware of the identity of the PR. And, at home, Vince talks non-stop about Stuart, pretending he thinks he's shallow and image-obsessed, making out that he's over him. Cameron, beyond exasperation, resorts to his last weapon... Expect a few surprises including someone getting their come uppence and the shock reappearance
of an earlier character. Will it all end in tears?
